Layman´s Report: Lessons learned and results from LIFE IP Rich Waters 2017–2024

When an EU-funded project comes to an end, the project must summarise how the work has been conducted, the results that have emerged and the long-term environmental benefits that the project has led to in a so-called layman’s report. LIFE IP Rich Waters presents the layman’s report as a photo book with pictures by nature photographer Johan Hammar.

In our layman’s report, we describe, among other things, how LIFE IP Rich Waters came about, what goals and strategies the project has had, and how the work is linked to the EU Water Framework Directive. We give examples of concrete measures that have been taken within the themes that have been in focus: free migration for fish, environmental pollutants, internal loading, eutrophication from agriculture and horse farms, and municipal water planning.

The book also contains several quotes from project participants and politicians, both about the project as a whole and about the various sub-projects. You also find facts and figures about the project’s results. And in conclusion, project manager Åsa Erlandsson gives a few words along the way.

”This shows that investments in the environment and climate not only demand sacrifices, but also lead to exciting new solutions.”

Hans Dahlgren, former Minister for EU Affairs

”When I look back, I am infinitely impressed by everything we have achieved together – both the concrete measures taken to change the aquatic environment and the knowledge gained about the status of our waters, new technology, processes, and costs. There can be no doubt that we have now established an extensive common knowledge bank.”

Åsa Erlandsson, Project Manager
